Well what can I say this was a great day at the Dirt Bike Show it was really good to have the chance to meet so many of the parents and kids that we have supplied the SGUT-MX MX nutritional products with over the 2017 season.
Although we got off to a rocky start the drive up should have been 2 ½ hours but ended up being five hours then having to set up the stand we eventually got back into the motorhome for 11 PM I’m straight up the following morning at 6 AM, so you can say it was all go!!
However Donna and Boston punched don like true warriors Boston got ready to practice in the minibike Championships and Donna was my trusty sidekick on the SGUT-MX stand. I was very excited as I knew a few good things were due to happen.
Revo Husqrvana were going to launch they’re 2018 race team which I can confirm is Mel Pocock, Martin bar, Dylan Woodcock, and they have just started a youth development section along with John Gifford (JGR Perfromance) and they currently had Ollie Colmer and Boston Gilbert representing the small wheel group.
As you will see from the latest blog I have now being made the nutritional and training provider for the MX Nationals and we will be at every Championship round with the SGUT-MX stand.
We have signed up a few new SGUT-MX riders to the SGUT-MX camp these consist of:
- Martin Barr – Revo Husqvrana
- Carlton Husband – Phoenix Tools Honda Racing
- Ben Clark – RFX Cresent Champion
- Ollie Colmer – Revo Husqrana & JGR Performance
- Tom Harris / Harley Rackman / Haydon Statt
They’ll be working through my online Motocross Winter Training Program.
With this line up of supported athletes I’m very much looking forward to the 2018 season.
So after all the business was done, our very own athlete Boston Gilbert wanted to try his hand at the minibike Championships, he has never raced a minibike and very rarely get out of practice but this weekend he decided to represent Diamond minis in the Supercross championship.
After going through two sets of wheels and tubes and various spokes Boston was starting to get used to the track and the pace that he had to set in order to get a good finish.
This was a hard because the race is only five laps long so you really need a good start and the diamonds minis do not have a clutch so it’s just rev and go, when you’re against other pitbikes that have a clutch it’s hard to get a good start!
Boston battles his way through the Championship over the two days and it came down to the last race where he needed a first to win as soon as the gate drop he nearly flipped the bike but managed to hold on and although he was in last place he battled his way all the way to the 2nd spot.
Only when the last blackboard came out he caught a rut which caused him to case the jump and went flying over the handlebars.
Even though this gave Boston a DNF and dropped him to fifth place, I couldn’t have asked any more from him as in that last race he went for broke, literally!
So to sum up the the event it was very good to meet so many passionate people about their health and how they can enhance their performance.
Here’s some snaps from the day!
